It is not easy to spot when the fuel consumption suddenly increases so my odometer readings stating when regen started will not be dead accurate. However – the DPF regeneration seems to take about 20 minutes or 20 to 25 miles dependent on whether you are in town or motorway conditions at the time - so the figures cannot be a lot out.
Then the light went off, and the coil light started to flash, and the car went into limp mode and has stayed in this mode since as the coil light is still flashing. So when this happened I scanned the car, to find 3 fault codes. and 2 DPF codes, excessive soot accumulation, and Trap bank 1 efficiency below threshold.
If the car starts a DPF regeneration, extend your journey if need be until it has finished the job (takes around 5-10 mins of driving, in my Alfa at least), and give it some beans to help it out
Possible irreversible damage to the DPF may occur, requiring repair or replacement. Advise the customer that if following the diagnostic procedure for DTC P2463 in SI results in a DPF system malfunction NOT BEING found, the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Service Regeneration SHOULD NOT BE CHARGED TO GM WARRANTY.
2013 Honda Civic 1.6 with 28000 miles came into L.A Automotive Services recently with DPF light illuminated caused by soot accumulation. We carried out our s Getting the DPF to regenerate correctly. Only a very small portion of my driving is around town and in traffic. I work shifts so do not hit any traffic which would slow my speeds down. I average about 400 miles a week, 300 of which is for work. 30 miles each way, I sit on the dual carriageway with the cruise control set to 55mph going to and 4b4X. 851 588 25 516 552 795 826 93
